Re:Generation

A joint exhibition  by Simon Marshall and Julia Cameron as part of their wedding celebrations. Anteros Arts Foundation, Norwich

 

When Julia and I got married we decided to surround the event with an exhibition of our work, an expression of the ideas and preoccupations in our lives as we celebrate. We wanted to express something of our history and of our hopes for the future as part of the celebrations, a show that became part of the event and of the venue. 

 

The work is about looking backward at family histories by Julia and forward to the regeneration of life by Simon. 

Julia worked with frozen family pictures to reflect on the passing of time, they are studies of the roots of her life and, by extension, the history of everyone.

Simon looks forward to the fecund hope of the future expressed by the rich textures of fruit, full of colour and richness.
